Mountain Cabin
SOLD
Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a rustic cabin built in the 1960’s. The cabin is in need of restoration and is waiting for the handy person that has a vision to make this place their own. This would make a great project for someone wanting to have a “tiny” cabin/house or build your dream mountain home and use the rustic cabin as a guest house or studio. The inside measurement is approximately 14 1/2 feet by 29 feet, with no interior walls.
There is electricity available at the front of the property but there is not a water well or a septic system which would be needed, if desired.
The cabin roof will need to be replaced and there is no chinking between the logs. The flooring will also need attention.
The property has good fences on two sides and on two sides the old fences are down but still visible.
The property has a little over 5.5 acres with 800 feet of paved highway frontage and 300 feet deep. There is NO HOA or restrictions on the property although one would have to follow State and County regulations.
It is reported that the cabin was built by Baldamar Quintana (1921-1976), a WWII Veteran and the former postmaster in Sapello, NM. His helpers were from the Trujillo family who were members of his wife’s (Mrs. Quintana) family. Additionally, it is reported that Noel Tutcher (Uncle of the owner) who was born in 1898, was there helping with the laying of the logs. Mr. Tutcher, also a WWII Veteran, remembered building cabins in Stevens County, Washington when he was a teenager. He remembered how they built log cabins then and offered his advice during the construction of the cabin.
